We offer yearly wellness exams and comprehensive sick patient exams. Yearly physical exams allow us to establish a baseline in your pet’s health and give our doctors the opportunity to detect any changes that may indicate future problems.
During a sick patient exam, your veterinarian may recommend additional testing and other diagnostics to determine treatment.
Make an AppointmentPuppies & Kittens
It’s important for new puppies and kittens to be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible after adoption for a number of reasons, including:
- Receiving essential vaccinations
- Intestinal parasite testing and deworming
- Starting heartworm and flea/tick prevenatives
This first exam is also a good time for you to have the veterinarian answer your questions about nutrition, behavior, and other aspects of caring for your new pet as well.
Even if your pet seems healthy, dogs and cats instinctively hide symptoms of illness and injury–so those signals are easy to miss. There are also some life-threatening conditions that have no symptoms at all until they are very advanced. Another important aspect of a physical exam is the dental exam. Most pets over the age of three have some evidence of periodontal (dental) disease. If left untreated, dental disease can eventually cause serious and painful health problems for your pet.
Senior Pets
We love senior pets! Wellness exams are especially important for older animals, and we recommend senior pets be seen twice per year if possible. Animals age much faster than we do, so disease and illness progress much faster as well. The earlier we catch changes or issues the sooner treatment can begin which can lead to healthier pets.
