Our Doctors

Dr. James Evans

Dr. Evans was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended the University of Missouri for undergraduate studies and veterinary school. Dr. Evans earned his DVM from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012.

Prior to purchasing North Oak Animal Hospital in 2019, Dr. Evans practiced for seven years in Las Vegas, and has extensive training in soft tissue, oral and orthopedic surgeries. He also has special interests in diabetes management, emergency medicine, Addison’s disease, Cushing’s disease, and allergy issues.

When he’s not working, Dr. Evans enjoys being with his family, both human and furry! His pets include cats Missy and Peter, who are a handful and keep things interesting, as well as Silver lab named Bonnie and Leonard the chihuahua. While Leonard acts as a wireless security system, Bonnie stays busy warming the couch and stealing treats.

Dr. Kim Evans

Dr. Evans was born and raised in southwest Minnesota on a family operated large production hog farm. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Southwest Missouri State University, Dr. Evans earned her DVM from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. She practiced veterinary medicine in Las Vegas for seven years before moving with her husband and family to Kansas City in 2019. Her special interests include dentistry, endocrine disorders, surgery, radiology, and internal medicine.

She and her husband Dr. James Evans have three daughters and they enjoy spending their spare time together by going on walks, jumping in the bouncy house, playing piano, watching movies, cooking, coloring, and playing with all their four-legged family members!

Dr. John Lazenby

Dr. Lazenby is a Missouri native and was born and raised in Joplin. After attending Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Dr. Lazenby obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri in 2017. Dr. Lazenby has practiced in Las Vegas as well as Northwest Arkansas before joining North Oak Animal Hospital in May 2022. His professional interests include ultrasound and soft tissue surgery, though he is always happy to help any pet in need. When not in the clinic, Dr. Lazenby enjoys spending time outdoors fishing and hiking with his wife, Alena, and playing tennis or golf. Dr. Lazenby’s furry family includes two dogs, an Alaskan Malamute/Golden Retriever mix named Shadow and a Yorkie named Molly.
